Volunteers at Solent Youth Action are offered exciting and rewarding opportunities. All volunteers undertake a comprehensive training package enabling them to be fully skilled to volunteer with SYA’s Projects and groups.
Current Vacancies
Community Buddy
We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, motivated individuals to work as part of our dynamic youth work team. We have a number of young people with additional needs who require some support to attend clubs and groups. We need volunteers for our one-to-one community Buddies Scheme. The buddy scheme offers children and young people aged 10-19 with additional support needs an opportunity to be supported by a fully trained ‘buddy’ to access activities in their community such as bowling, cinema, football and scouts. You will be required to support and engage with the young person enabling them to participate in their chosen activity.
Provided you are over 18 years of age, are patient, understanding and feel you can support a child or young person (with training) to engage in activities, we’d love to hear from you.
Trustee
We are looking for trustees to support and govern our super passionate youth provision charity. We are particularly seeking those with experience in HR, Fundraising and Marketing, but if you feel that you could help us to continue to support young people then we’d love to hear from you! As part of a small team of volunteer trustees, you will support and govern our Youth Provision charity, helping to direct it towards an ever positive future.
What are trustees?
A detailed description about the roles and responsibilities of charity trustees can be found on the Charity Commission’s website.
In short, trustees work to guide the organisation and shape it’s direction.
Prior experience or knowledge of the voluntary sector is not necessary – just an interest in helping young people to make a positive difference for themselves and others. Trustees meet once every 4-6 weeks from 6-8.30pm, and we always provide pizza.
