Thrill on a Hill

By kailea - Posted on 30 August 2009

Thanks to the wonderful volunteers associated with the BTCV on St Giles Hill, vinvolved project volunteers have been getting to grips with nature in Winchester.

St Giles Hill is not only home to a variety of trees and wildlife, it holds the best view in all of Winchester, allowing users of the nature spot to view the beautiful city from one of Winchesters highest peaks.

The tasks for the vinvolved project volunteers have varied from cutting back brambles and ivy, creating reptile piles and blocking trodden paths to prevent soil erosion, and wrestling a fallen tree into a safe and secure position, preventing antisocial use of the area.

Volunteers who have dedicated their time to this area include Zoe Brazier, Nathan Brewster, Dean Childs, Robert Clarke, Kinga Grosicka, Jamie Hooper, Glen Jeffery, Amy Joyce, Paul Redman, Christopher Tollet, Luke Wood and Tom Wood.

Tasks in this area are running every month, so if you'd like to have greener fingers, get in touch!
